Last March 2025, the Massachusetts Public Health Council voted unanimously to approve a Determination of Need (DON) for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to build a 300-bed cancer hospital in the Longwood Medical Area. This approval was a key milestone in the regulatory process that will enable Dana-Farber to build a visionary new inpatient facility that will redefine how cancer is treated.
Dana-Farber is renowned for its revolutionary, groundbreaking research and expert, highly specialized patient care. The hospital will function as the primary connector at the center of the clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP). It will be the only hospital of its kind in the region. The future cancer hospital has a community of supporters that is building momentum—fueling this next chapter of innovative treatment and care for patients and families. More stories of their commitment to our bold vision for the future of cancer care will be featured in future issues of Impact.
