Thanks to the support of The Dana-Farber Campaign, the Institute has launched an ambitious program to enhance the patient experience and boost clinical innovation in nursing. The Ning Zhao & Ge Li Family Initiative in Nursing will strengthen the education and training of oncology nurses through research, innovation, and professional development while building a pipeline of highly trained oncology nurses for the future.

The initiative will also include a state-of-the-art simulation center where nurses can receive hands-on training in a facility that replicates the clinical environment. The center, expected to open in 2025, will prepare nurses with key technical skills, such as starting IVs, administering chemotherapy, and practicing for emergency scenarios.

“Nurses need specific competencies and clinical expertise in caring for patients with cancer,” said Anne Gross, PhD, RN, FAAN, the Ning Zhao Chair of Nursing at Dana-Farber. “By enhancing our training and professional development programs, we ensure that we can continue to provide the highest quality care while maximizing each patient’s quality of life during treatment.”
