Summer 2026
By Lisa Gregory

Through a challenge grant of up to $750,000 in matching funds from The Warren Alpert Foundation (WAF), Team Crank, a Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) team, raised more than $1.5 million for Dana-Farber through the PMC in 2025.

WAF focuses on improving public health by funding basic, translational, and outcomes research to attain or advance medical treatments. Team Crank, 53 riders strong, was founded in 2012 by 16-year PMC rider, Advisory Board member, and co-captain Mark Burak.

This generous gift supported pioneering cancer research at Dana-Farber in five areas: Pratiti Bandopadhayay, MBBS, PhD, Research Fund within the pediatric low-grade astrocytoma (PLGA) Program; Kimberly Stegmaier, MD, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) Research Fund; Patrick Wen, MD, Brain Tumor Research Fund; The Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research; and the Center for Salivary and Rare Head and Neck Cancers.
