Dear Friends,
As the days get longer and the sun shines brighter, I am reflecting on what sustains momentum at Dana-Farber: our community. The physicians and scientists who choose to devote their careers to patients. The families who place their trust in us. And every supporter who makes bold progress possible.
One of the most powerful ways donors are shaping the future of cancer care is through endowed chairs, featured on the cover and within this issue. These gifts provide critical resources for the most important aspect of our community: our people. Endowed chairs provide a stable source of funding to pursue high-risk, high-reward research and move discoveries to patients faster. Endowed positions also help us recruit and retain the very best minds in cancer medicine, whose work will shape cancer treatment and care for years—and decades—to come.
That same collective commitment to research runs throughout these pages. Partners across our region and beyond are accelerating critical efforts at Dana-Farber, reminding us that progress happens fastest when communities rally around science and invest in what’s possible.
Philanthropy is also about movement—scientific, philanthropic, and human. As I look forward to joining our community for many special events this summer, I am reminded that it is always about more than miles logged. For me, these events reflect solidarity, hope, and the power of collective determination to move cancer research forward, together.
In my role, I carry a deep responsibility to steward trust and ensure your generosity translates into lasting impact. What inspires me most is the shared conviction that we can, and must, advance innovative research treatments to improve outcomes across pediatric and adult patients.
Because of you, Dana-Farber remains a place where people, purpose, and possibility come together. Thank you for investing in the leaders, discoveries, and communities moving cancer research and care forward—step by step, mile by mile, breakthrough by breakthrough.
With gratitude,
Melany N. Duval
