The ASICS Falmouth Road Race, a scenic seven-mile race along the Cape Cod coast, is one of the most well-known summer running events in New England, with race bibs highly sought after by runners from all over the globe. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund is the official Legacy Partner of the Numbers for Nonprofits Program, the charity arm of the Falmouth Road Race. This year, on August 17, runners from Dana-Farber’s 2025 Falmouth Road Race team raised a record-breaking $1,105,554.90, the highest fundraising total in the team’s 23-year history, which exceeds $12.5 million to date for innovative research and compassionate patient care. The 2025 team also set a recruitment record, with 366 runners forming Dana-Farber’s largest Falmouth team yet. For many of these runners, the race was more than just a reason to lace up their sneakers—it was personal.
“I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in October 2023,” shared Catie Smith, a member of this year’s team. “Over the past 18 months, I’ve experienced firsthand how important the research and care options at Dana-Farber are, especially for patients like me,” she reflected.
Catie first ran the Falmouth Road Race 20 years ago. When the opportunity arose to run the seven-mile race again, this time in support of Dana-Farber, she didn’t hesitate.

“It was a no-brainer,” she said. “Everyone deserves access to high quality, research-based care. I hope that by running, I am doing my small part to advance the options available to future cancer patients.”
For others, like Trey Witter, the race was a way to honor loved ones who have benefited from Dana-Farber’s care. Trey ran this year’s Falmouth Road Race in honor of his father, who was diagnosed with leukemia.

“My dad would not be here if it wasn’t for the treatment he received at Dana-Farber.” Trey shared. “I’m honored to pay it forward to the doctors, nurses, and patients like my dad by running for Dana-Farber’s team.”
2025 also marked an incredible 20th consecutive Falmouth Road Race for Team Lanzoni/Bergeron founder Jim Kiley. Back in 2006, Jim was motivated to run with Dana-Farber after his friend David passed away from cancer. What started as a team of one has become a 20-year legacy, with hundreds of team members joining and thousands of dollars raised to support Dana-Farber’s lifesaving mission. When asked what keeps him coming back to the race year after year, Jim didn’t hesitate to share: “I do it for the doctors and patients at Dana-Farber. It’s that simple.”
