On May 5, the Institute celebrated Anne Gross, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, the inaugural incumbent of the Ning Zhao Chair of Nursing at Dana-Farber. As Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, Gross led the achievement of two consecutive Magnet® designations for excellence in nursing; improved patient access to and the quality and safety of oncology care; and developed programs to build the oncology nursing workforce and advance nursing science.

On the same day, Dana-Farber celebrated the opening of the Ning Zhao & Ge Li Nursing Simulation Center, which offers a training environment where nurses, clinical assistants, oncology nurse navigators, and other staff can develop and refine essential clinical skills. The Simulation Center, the chair, and a scholarship fund for clinical assistants are made possible by the Ning Zhao & Ge Li Family Initiative in Nursing, representing the largest single gift to nursing in the Institute’s history.
