Looking forward and building on the momentum of The Dana-Farber Campaign’s community of support, we see so much that makes us hopeful. Data science and artificial intelligence make it possible to understand the underpinnings of cancer and develop targeted therapies to defeat it. Liquid biopsies offer ways to detect tumor DNA in the blood before any symptoms of disease appear. Immunotherapies catalyze the body’s own immune system to attack and kill cancerous cells.
But an estimated 40% of Americans will develop cancer in their lifetimes, and we recognize that more people will need advanced cancer care than ever before. We believe that the best place to deliver that care is in a setting solely dedicated to treating people with cancer.
Dana-Farber’s vision is to center the patient, family, and caregiver experience, expand access to value-driven care, and foster scientific discovery. A centerpiece of this vision will be achieved through a proposed future cancer hospital, subject to regulatory approvals.
