In September 2024, more than 400 cyclists took to the backroads of the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts and New York to experience PMC Unpaved, a gravel bike-a-thon that raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Riders chose fully supported routes of 30 or 50 miles beginning and ending at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac in Lenox, Mass., and enjoyed a full weekend of camp activities. A vital “spoke in the wheel” of the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), which is presented by the Red Sox Foundation and M&T Bank, PMC Unpaved riders contributed $1.2 million to the organization’s record-breaking gift of $75 million in 2024 and to its astounding cumulative total of over $1 billion raised since 1980. The PMC contributes 100% of every rider-raised dollar to Dana-Farber and is the Institute’s largest donor, accounting for 66% of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. PMC Unpaved comes back for its fourth year in 2025, with the ride being held on October 4, along with a full weekend of activities.
