The Alka Ohri Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of patients with breast cancer by supporting programs that focus on holistic wellbeing throughout all levels of treatment. To this end, the foundation recently pledged $100,000 to aid Dana-Farber’s Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies and Healthy Living in launching a Personalized Healthy Living Program for breast cancer patients. The program is designed to preserve participants’ strength, endurance, and mobility throughout the breast cancer continuum.
The foundation’s funding will allow Jennifer Ligibel, MD, director of the Zakim Center, to leverage ongoing research and clinical care and rapidly generate data on the role of diet, exercise, and additional holistic programs in this patient population. She ultimately seeks to develop an evidence-informed, aggregated model that draws from the most effective elements of the program and builds a blueprint for the incorporation of healthy living programs into oncology clinics across the globe.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Alka Ohri Foundation for their generous, forward-thinking gift,” said Ligibel.
