Supporting early detection oncology research had been a dream of Institute Trustee Louise Svanberg, and that dream was fulfilled with the establishment of the Svanberg Family Chair at Dana-Farber. On May 2, a celebration held at the Harvard Club introduced the chair’s first incumbent, Dipanjan Chowdhury, PhD, chief of the Division of Radiation and Genome Stability in the Department of Radiation Oncology and founder and co-director of The Mellen and Eisenson Family Center for BRCA and Related Genes. Chowdhury’s groundbreaking work advances the understanding of cellular response to DNA damage and the early detection of ovarian cancer.
