In 2020, Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine endowed three Dana-Farber Chairs in support of cancer prevention and early detection research at the Institute, with a gift to The Dana-Farber Campaign. The Lavines are members of the Campaign Cabinet and Jonathan Lavine, Chair of Bain Capital, is a Dana-Farber Trustee. The three incumbents—Irene Ghobrial, MD; Rafael Irizarry, PhD; and Catherine Wu, MD—are working across disease areas to investigate precursor conditions, immunotherapies, and other potential prevention therapies; develop new methods of early detection; and enhance the ability of doctors to identify and test for early stage cancers. Celebrations for the three incumbents were held throughout 2023 and 2024.

About Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine

Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine’s continued support for Dana-Farber began over 20 years ago when the Institute successfully treated Jonathan’s mother’s non-Hodgins lymphoma. Motivated by the excellence they witnessed during this time, the Lavines have committed themselves to helping Dana-Farber stay at the forefront of cancer research and care.

In addition to their patronage of Dana-Farber, Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine are generous benefactors and volunteers for numerous other community and charitable organizations. These include Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), and uAspire.
