In March, the Awards and Milestones Reception recognized participants in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai who went above and beyond, including Alumni Walker of the Year Barb Sirvis. Barb walks in honor and memory of the 950+ names that she handwrites on the back of her shirt every year. Also honored at the ceremony were: First-Time Team Captain of the Year Anita Rodriguez; First-Time Walker of the Year Anya Rhodes; Alumni Team Captain of the Year Julie Wilson; Volunteer of the Year Venu Nareddy; and Extra Mile Award recipient Carole Hauke. Lifetime Fundraising Awards were given to Team Owen’s Army, who surpassed $1 million in fundraising, and Team Kroot, who surpassed $500,000; and individual walkers Ed Gardella, Janis Moriarty, Amy Schwartz Messina, and Janet Schwartz.

More than 950 names of those affected by cancer grace the back of Barb Sirvis’ shirt at the Walk each year.
